Dr. Andrew Lynn (He/They)

Principal Investigator

Dr. Andrew Lynn is an Assistant Professor in Psychological & Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville where he also serves as the Director of The Attention in NeuroDevelopment (AND) Lab.

He completed his PhD in Psychology at Brown University and his postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University. His primary research goal is to understand how children’s brain development is related to their attention & academic abilities, and how their early environments and experiences shape this development.

More broadly, he is dedicated to communicating scientific findings to the public, supporting the next generation of scientists, and equitably supporting children & families. When he’s not working on research or teaching, he’s playing fetch with his dogs, Max and Reese, watching TV and movies, cooking, or gardening.

Dilara Kessafoglu (she/her)

Graduate Student
Dilara is a Ph.D. student in Psychology supervised by Dr. Andrew Lynn. Her research focuses on how screen use affects children’s attention and executive functions, with an emphasis on neural mechanisms. Outside of academics, Dilara enjoys exploring art/history, traveling, and hiking.
Georgia Chlebek (she/her)

Undergraduate Researcher
Georgia I junior at UofL majoring in Psychology with a minor in Interdisciplinary Data Science. She joined the lab to pursue research related to cognition and functioning. Away from lab she enjoys baking, listening to music, and being with friends.
Fina Davy (She/Her)

Undergraduate Researcher
Fina is a junior at the University of Louisville majoring in Neuroscience. She joined the lab to gain hands-on research experience in brain development. After graduation, Fina hopes to attend medical school and become a physician, and she plays on the University’s Women’s Soccer Team.
Arturo Echevers (He/Him)

Undergraduate Researcher
Arturo Echevers is a senior at the University of Louisville pursuing a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Communication. He joined the lab to study attention in children and gain valuable research experience. Arturo also enjoys movies, writing fiction, and drawing while listening to music.
Emma Fellows (she/her)

Undergraduate Researcher
Emma is a senior at the University of Louisville pursuing a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Art. She joined the lab to gain research experience and plans to work with children as an art therapist. In her free time, she enjoys painting, baking, crocheting, and listening to music.
Camila Hernandez (she/her)

Undergraduate Researcher
Camila is a senior at UofL majoring in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. She joined the lab to prepare for graduate school and pursue a doctorate. With experience working with children, she brings valuable insight and enjoys movies, suspense novels, and family time.
Randy Mitchell (she/her)

Undergraduate Researcher
Randy is a senior at UofL majoring in Psychology with a minor in Interdisciplinary Data Sciences. She joined the lab to explore research in cognitive development and hopes to shape her grad school interests. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading and being with friends and family.
Kyla Vargason (She/Her)

Undergraduate Researcher
Kyla is a senior at the University of Louisville pursuing a B.S. in Psychology. She joined the lab to explore her interests in child development and research. In her free time, Kyla enjoys family activities, walks, shopping, and spending time at the beach during her breaks.
