Dr. Andrew Lynn (he/they)
Principal Investigator
Dr. Andrew Lynn is an Assistant Professor in Psychological & Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville where he also serves as the Director of The Attention in NeuroDevelopment (AND) Lab.
He completed his PhD in Psychology at Brown University and his postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University. His primary research goal is to understand how children’s brain development is related to their attention & academic abilities, and how their early environments and experiences shape this development.
More broadly, he is dedicated to communicating scientific findings to the public, supporting the next generation of scientists, and equitably supporting children & families. When he’s not working on research or teaching, he’s playing fetch with his dogs, Max and Reese, watching TV and movies, cooking, or gardening.

Dilara Kessafoglu (she/her)
Graduate Student
Dilara is a Ph.D. student in Psychology supervised by Dr. Andrew Lynn. Her research focuses on how screen use affects children’s attention and executive functions, with an emphasis on neural mechanisms. Outside of academics, Dilara enjoys exploring art/history, traveling, and hiking.

Vivian Garcia (she/her)
Research Coordinator
Vivian is broadly interested in attention and perception, focusing on how auditory and visual signals are integrated and how this relates to intuitive physics across normative and clinical populations. Outside the lab, she enjoys watching movies and tending to her feline overlord, Figgy.

Rebekah Flowers (she/They)
Masters Student
Rebekah is a graduate student in the accelerated Master’s program for Brain Sciences. In the AND Lab, she studies attention issues in youth, especially in underrepresented groups. She plans to earn a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology, and enjoys photography and film .

Ahmad Albakri (he/him)
Undergraduate Researcher
Ahmad is a junior at UofL majoring in Neuroscience on the pre-med track. He is interested in children’s psychology and neural development, especially in education. Ahmad hopes to attend medical school and become a physician, and enjoys sports, music, and movies.

Georgia Chlebek (she/her)
Undergraduate Researcher
Georgia is a sophomore at UofL majoring in Psychology with a minor in Interdisciplinary Data Science. She joined the lab to pursue research related to cognition and functioning. Away from lab she enjoys baking, listening to music, and being with friends.

Fina Davy (She/Her)
Undergraduate Researcher
Fina is a sophomore at the University of Louisville majoring in Neuroscience. She joined the lab to gain hands-on research experience in brain development. After graduation, Fina hopes to attend medical school and become a physician, and she plays on the University’s Women’s Soccer Team.

Arturo Echevers is a junior at the University of Louisville pursuing a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Communication. He joined the lab to study attention in children and gain valuable research experience. Arturo also enjoys movies, writing fiction, and drawing while listening to music.

Emma is a junior at the University of Louisville pursuing a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Art. She joined the lab to gain research experience and plans to work with children as an art therapist. In her free time, she enjoys painting, baking, crocheting, and listening to music.

Jesus is a senior at UofL pursuing a degree in Neuroscience. He hopes to pursue a research career focused on bipolar disorder, abuse, and depression. He joined the AND Lab to gain experience serving the local community. On his free time enjoys reading, movies, music, and time with friends and family.
